Individualized Health Care for Senior Cats & Dogs
It’s true that time flies when you’re having fun, but time passes even more swiftly for our pets. If your cat or dog is approaching the age of eight, Madison Veterinary Hospital recommends that you consider asking your veterinarian about our senior pet health plans. We offer senior plans with two levels of varying intensity and scrutiny. With the help of our in-house laboratory, the flexibility in our plans allows us to dispense with a “one-size-fits-all” treatment approach and care for our patients on a case-by-case basis.
Senior Health: Level One
The first level of our senior health plan encompasses our regular adult plans and extends beyond the routine tests. We study the function of your senior pet’s organs more carefully by performing renal exams and urine screenings for kidney disease, testing for cognitive dysfunction, and conducting a thyroid profile. By allowing us to test these components of your pet’s health, it enables us to detect signs of failure and dysfunction early and subsequently gives us a greater chance at reversing the diseases and effects.
Senior Health: Level Two
The second level of our senior health plan has all the enhanced coverage of the first and then some. Level two includes blood pressure monitoring, X-rays of your pet’s chest and abdomen that we send to a certified radiologist at no additional cost to you, and cardiac screenings to detect the potential for heart disease.
Regardless of which tailored health plan you choose for your pet, our knowledgeable veterinarians and staff can further treat your pet by providing nutritional counseling. They can adjust diets to suit your senior pet’s needs and recommend prescription medications from our pharmacy to ensure your pet stays healthy and pain-free.
